McGraw-Hill Education has an immediate opening for an Assistant Academic Designer, Earth Science (Project Status Worker) in our Columbus, OH office as part of the Middle School Science Academic Design (Editorial) Department. Academic Designers are content and curriculum experts, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements. 

Critical Functions:

  • Plan and develop content (including learning trajectories, scope sequence, tables of contents, lessons, and teacher resources) for digital and print products
  • Correlate educational materials to national and state science standards
  • Communicate project requirements to authors, consultants, and freelance editors
  • Prepare manuscript, ensuring accuracy, readability, and grade-appropriateness in accordance with project specifications
  • Work in a Content Management System to assemble and produce educational content
  • Work on digital products with tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing
  • Complete photo and art requisition forms
  • Monitor and evaluate pedagogical and content area research and trends
  • Maintain and meet project schedules
  • Perform other editorial duties as assigned


A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Earth Science, or Science Education with Earth Science majors
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills
  • The successful candidate must be able to work extensively in a team environment
  • The successful candidate must be organized, and detail- and deadline-oriented
  • Experience working with digital curriculum development and digital products

A successful candidate may have:

  • Previous middle school teaching experience
  • Experience with Content Management Systems
