We have an opening for a highly motivated Intern for Bids & Contracts in our Columbus, OH office. Does this sound like you?  The anticipated timeline will be January to May 2018 at 20-40 hours per week, flexible per individual's requirements.

The Bids & Contracts Intern will provide direct support to Director, Strategic Services and will gain experience in aligning customer contracts with company legal guidelines, completing projects for revenue opportunities, and analyzing school district requirements in current educational trends.


This role will provide the opportunity to work closely with the RFP, Bids and Contracts team to develop the necessary legal knowledge that underlies all proposals, bids and contracts. This individual will also be introduced to the cross-functional collaboration (between sales, marketing, technology partners, and more!) that is key in providing support for successful sales opportunities.

Critical Functions:

  • Assist with completing bids for revenue opportunities
  • Review and edit agreements and terms conditions in line with MHE policy
  • Collaborate with Bids and Contracts Specialists, Legal, and Privacy Officer to finalize customer agreements
  • Learn key trends in education like privacy and data security
  • Support Bids & Contracts team with maintenance of the legal playbook  
  • Support various projects by contributing deliverables by the required deadline


A successful candidate will have:

  • A preferred degree focus in a legal or a paralegal field
  • Enrollment in 3rd or 4th year higher education program
  • An aptitude for reading and analyzing legalese or an eagerness to learn
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Effective collaborator and team player
  • Experience in Adobe Pro and MS office suite
  • Strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and an ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Intellectually curious - likes to learn new things
  • Highly organized
  • Professional/friendly demeanor
